I recently read an interesting blog about the dating scene in Bangkok and I found it really fascinating to read.

According to this one guy who named himself "Bonafide":
During my 7 months here, dating has been for a lesser of a word - interesting. From early on, I've been pretty aware of the superficial nature in which the dateewess are judged. Women desperately want to grab a hold of a guy of high pedigree at any costs. Guys seem to benefit the most in the whole dating game, because from what I deduced decent guys are hard to find here ¼ are gay, ¼ are monks, ¼ look like a bus hit them. Hence, it's common for an average looking Thai guy to have about 2 or 3 girlfriends.

If that is true I can understand why people like Tom (who is Thai), treats all women like prostitutes. Tom is not gay, nor is he a monk, or had a bus hit him (in other words, a "dork") In Thailand, guys are extremely open about their homosexuality. I met many guys which in Thailand are called, "Lady Man" and even visited a gay bar in Pat Pong. They were nice people and as long as they don't hit on me, I am totally cool about their sexuality or transvestite appearance.

Most decent or average Thai men, will most likely take advantage of having multiple girlfriends. Just like Tom, and take women for granted. Tom, for example can not survive without playing with prostitutes. Most of his female friends in Thailand are prostitutes.

Now I described the male point of view in dating scene in Thailand. I actually got to learn about the dating scene in the female's point of view in Thailand.

2 years ago, I met this Thai girl who worked at a Thai restaurant in Japan. I eventually became friends with her and visited her when she moved back to Bangkok. Most of you know my usual visit to Bangkok such as getting DVD movies, softwares, and visiting the beautiful sceneries in Bangkok (Temple & Shrines) :)

Since I no longer became friends and associated with Tom, I decided to give the former Thai waitress a call. It wouldn't hurt to say "Hi" or have a friend to hang around with, because I can't go shopping all day long, and the Temples & Shrines don't open until 4pm.

What I found out about her is that she wasn't much of a good tour guide. Since she does not do much sight seeing in Bangkok, and works all day long not having much social life. There are many other stories about her, but I need to hurry up and get to the point.

As time went by, I guess she began to like me more than just a friend to hang around with. She began asking me questions about my personal life such as, "whether or not I have a girlfriend in Japan and whether or not I like Thai girls" Stuff like that.

I guess as "Bonafide" would mention in his blog, "Women desperately want to grab a hold of a guy of high pedigree at any costs. Guys seem to benefit the most in the whole dating game, because from what I deduced decent guys are hard to find here ¼ are gay, ¼ are monks, ¼ look like a bus hit them. "

Don't get me wrong, this girl is extremely cute with a very charming personality. I assumed that someone like her would already have a boyfriend. Well, at least if she was living in America she would. Since she asked me about my personal life, I decided to ask about hers. She told me how she hated Thai men and her description of Thai men is the exact description of Tom. The funny thing is, they never met.

What I find so extremely weird is the fact that she never hang out with a non-gay guy or non-weird guy before. When I 1st took her to go see a movie, she told me it was her 1st time for her to watch a movie with a guy. She does have quite a few gay friends, but she doesn't seem to have any guy friends who are not gay or F-ed up.

One day, I had some spare time so I visited her at work in Bangkok. This one receptionist began flirting to me, then I saw her get really upset at the receptionist. So now reading that blog from "Bonafide" I can understand his comment on "Women desperately want to grab a hold of a guy of high pedigree at any costs."

There was a county fair in Bangkok and she introduced me to her female friends, she asked me if I know any of my foreign non-Thai friends who might be interested in meeting Thai women. I guess that other comment where "Bonafide" mentioned, "because from what I deduced decent guys are hard to find here ¼ are gay, ¼ are monks, ¼ look like a bus hit them. "

When I thought ICU being considered as paradise (University which had 70% female to 30% mail ratio), Thailand would be a good place for a dating scene if you are a guy...

No wonder Tom take women for granted....
